Following on from the success of the first "Changing The Focus"
conference held in June 2006, the second such conference on the sexual
health
of gay and bisexual men will be held at the Radisson Glasgow
on the 30 & 31st October 2008.

Conference Aim
This two day Conference aims to provide a motivational learning
space for a wide range of professional workers from across Scotland
and enable them to ensure that the Scottish Executive's "Respect
and Responsibility: NHS QIS Sexual Health Standards", NSHAC
and other sexual health policy can be implemented in ways that meet
the specific
sexual health needs of gay and bisexual men.

Conference Objectives
- To provide a free two-day event for approximately 200 delegates
with the opportunity to participate in workshops, seminars, presentations
and plenary sessions on a range of relevant topics.
- To provide
opportunities for those with no previous experience of gay and
bisexual mens' sexual health to learn
about this area of work.
- To ensure that the Conference is
specifically applicable and relevant to those responsible for
implementing the Respect
and Responsibility
Action Plan and its successor documents for NHS, voluntary
sector agencies and Local Authorities.
- To engage participants
in discussions on the latest international research, evidence
and lessons learned, encouraging them
to address the challenges of applying these to the needs
of gay
and bisexual
men in Scotland.
- To provide a forum to share worldwide
knowledge of practice in this field.
- To identify key priorities
for action on sexual health promotion and to develop a clear
focus for future sexual
health work
for gay and bisexual men in Scotland.
- To provide a
prioritised list of recommendations relevant to specific sectors
such as the Scottish Government,
NHS Organisations, Local
Authorities, voluntary sector agencies, gay mens'
services etc.
- To ensure conference recommendations
are fed back to national and local planning groups
with an interest
in
gay and bisexual
men's
health.
- To support the application of the actions
as outlined in the Respect and Responsibility Action
Plan with
a clear focus
on the needs of
gay and bisexual men.
